Karma Yoga benefitting Ramona Barr

led by Ashley Fayhee

This special Restorative Yoga class, led by Ashely Fayhee, will benefit young Ramona Barr, who has a diagnosis of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). Every dollar brought in for this class will be donated to the Barr family to help offset the costs of Ramona's medical care.

Ramona's parents are Nathan and Bethany Barr. This is what they had to say about her medical condition:

"This is our sweet little sugar baby, Ramona! She is a happy, active, sassy girl who loves to play, eat, and explore. She is 15 months old and was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) last summer, which means that the muscles of her heart are too thick and will continue to thicken. There is not much room, especially in the left side of her heart, for her to pull in blood. So far, she has been doing well overall. We've spent some time at the Children's Hospital of Illinois in Peoria and at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, but we are home for now. We don't know what the future will hold for Ramona. Her HCM is quite severe, with the muscle being 19x thicker than normal in some areas. She currently has a small heart monitor implant that watches her heart all the time, and she'll likely need either a pacemaker, a defibrillator implant, or a heart transplant at some point, but we don't know which or when. For now, her cardiologists are keeping a close eye on her with regular visits, and we're just soaking up every minute we have with her and her big sister!"
